Amorim: The 'Weight' from Man Utd Prepared Me for the AC Milan Challenge

Ruben Amorim has revealed how the weight of managing Manchester United prepared him for the challenge of coaching AC Milan, saying “everything was to reach this point.” In an interview with DAZN, the Portuguese coach, a self-confessed Rossoneri fan since childhood, took on the task of restoring the club to its rightful place. Milan currently sit fifth in Serie A with 11 points, two behind the leading trio, with a daunting run of nine matches in under a month including three Europa League ties. Amorim defended striker Goncalo Ramos, a Champions League winner struggling in front of goal, insisting he would never ask a player to run less and that the team’s goals are partly thanks to Ramos. He also outlined a two-tier recruitment model combining ready-made players such as Ramos with young talents such as Diego Moreira. The former Sporting Lisbon manager believes the scrutiny and pressure experienced in England built the resilience needed for San Siro. With Sassuolo up next, the next month will test Milan’s squad depth and Amorim’s ability to manage workload while implementing his high-pressing back-three system. The emotional homecoming narrative is strong, but only results will determine whether the “Man Utd weight” truly becomes an advantage.
